A Welcome From
Pastor Dean Chambers
I want to personally welcome you to the website of Bethlehem Baptist Church! We as a church exist for the glory of God; to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ; to teach and apply the Word of God; and to see souls come to know Christ as Savior, baptized, and discipled. How do we do this? By being servant hearted; being kingdom minded; and being Christ focused, “on mission” together…
What We Believe
Jesus said in Matthew 20:26-28, “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant: and whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Following Jesus’ example of service in John 13 and Philippians 2, we as a church body seek to be “servant hearted,” going the extra mile to serve others. We do this by serving our community, but most of all having a positive, welcoming spirit about us.
Jesus commands us in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” In obedience to this command, everything we do is “kingdom minded,” preaching the “good news” that Jesus Christ, the Son of God came to earth, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again from the death, and by believing in Him and trusting in Him for salvation we can receive forgiveness of sins. This is evident in all the activities surrounding our church as well in our missions efforts. We want the community outside our church walls to know that “Jesus saves.”
Hebrews 12:1-3 tells us to run the race that is set before us “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.” Our focus is solely on the Lord Jesus Christ, for without Him we are nothing. His will is revealed in the Word of God – the Bible – and we focus on Him by the weekly teaching and preaching of the Word of God with practical applications so that we can be obedient to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is carried over into our Sunday school/small groups program where the Word of God is further taught so that we can be students of the scriptures.
